new energy works

New Energy Works is a timber frame build company out of New York and Oregon. Founded on the triple bottom line of: people, planet, and prosperity. This employee-owned business provides multiple services under its brand including: timber framing, construction, high-performance enclosures, and fine woodworking. They service an audience across the United States by being a bi-coastal company.

During my time as their in-house multimedia designer I was able to provide (including but not limited to): a complete rebrand with new logo, fonts, and guidelines, four 13-month calendar designs, digital and print collateral, stationery, email newsletter design, website content management, new website design (design only no coding), manufacturing specification sheets and guides, art direction on photoshoots, and product and employee photography.

brand refresh

One of the larger projects that I worked on while at New Energy Works was the brand refresh in 2020. The previous logo had been in use for 10+ years and while it served the company well, it didn’t reflect how they viewed themselves moving forward in the future. During this time they had expanded a number of their services including a larger construction operation as well as absorbing more of the fine woodworking group under a different name.

The new logo need to encompass each service that New Energy Works provides:

  • Timber Frame

  • Design + Build

  • High Performance Enclosures

  • Fine Woodworks

13 month calendar

Each year New Energy Works partners with Log & Timber Home Living Magazine to create a 13 month calendar that is distributed through their Annual Buyer’s Guide edition to 100,000+ subscribers. This calendar is also sent from New Energy Works to partners and homeowners along with a personalized letter and envelope. I have had the chance to work on 4 calendars and am in the beginning stages of creating my fifth. You can view all of the L&THL Calendars on New Energy Works’ website here. My designs are from 2020 onward.
The 2022 & 2023 envelope illustration was done in partnership with

Photography

I have been fortunate enough to travel and witness some incredible homes, job sites, tours, and meet some wonderful people during my time with New Energy Works. Capturing these moments has been an exciting part of my design knowledge. Being behind the camera with the design in mind has helped create amazing work from lens to print to digital. I have experienced every stage of the process, from -15 degree weather on a 7 am raising day to a rainy construction site where walls were being installed, to a sunny lake house in July. It has been an amazing experience to see every facet of the design process, from construction to the finished product.
